03 polo reverse lights not working

hi guys i have a 03 polo 1.2 and the reverse lights have stopped working checked the fuse thats fine also checked the bulbs they are ok.

is there anything else it could be?

The wires are common for breaking next to the plug that goes onto the reverse light switch.
Its on the front of the gearbox

Do you have a towbar on your car? Maybe the wiring (13 pins) causes the problem.
