Default Max V not working. HELP PLEASE!

Hi guys, (and gals)! I'm having a problem trying to get my box to work at all. Feel i may have been had! i bought the box last weekend and have been unsuccessful in being able to put any software on it. first, i'm having to use a freinds lead to connect to the pc, its for his digivox xl and assures me its the right one for mine too. when i try to download to the box, its not being detected. so, i bought a jtag with his advise. that connects and does what it should, apparently, (my mate is doing all the work for me). but still, trying to download the software is unsuccessful. it did connect twice, but at the end it said it failed. after reading somewhere to leave it as it still might take, it never. i have ordered another lead from fleabay to try but it hasn't arrived yet. does anyone have any advise that could help please?

duont know what cable you are trying to flash with but you need a null modem cable for flashing you also have to have your box plugged in to the mains then turn it on before flash so the pc can pick the box up

Jtag is only needed when you need to erase and write to the TSOP. Your problem is probably port related. Did you use a USB adapter also or was it just a null modem cable? Was it completely dead or do you have a standby light?

Read here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-eurovox-9786/ regards cable/cables and port settings.

I have added to my post above......was your box completely dead or did it have a standby light and something like this ---- on the LCD?

Sounds like the lead you have at the moment is a straight through RS232 cable are you sure its a null modem cable? I know you said it connected twice, I hope your mate erased and wrote to the box correctly?

Unplug the box, hit download on the UFL, wait a few seconds and then plug the box in. This may take a few attempts but give it a go.
