    DM500 Setup Pin Lock?

    Anyone,

I cannot access the setup of my dreambox, as when I recieved the dreambox from the supplier it came with a Pin number. I do not know this pin and it is different from the parental lock, can anyone inform me how to obtain this set up lock?

    Thanks in Advance.

Not sure if these boxes have a master pin. Found this on another site, trt it, it may work.

If I understand correctly (not sure about that), our friend is after the Set-Up Pin for his DM500.
      If so this may help:-
      Open Dreambox Control Centre.
      Click on FTP
      Goto /var/tuxbox/config/enigma
There you should find a file named ?config?
      Right click on it
Click on View, then on Edit and on Search and paste this Line:-
      i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=
At the end of this Line, you will find different numbers/letters
      Example:-
      i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=000001cf
The value 000001cf is in HEX and should be converted to Decimal
In this example, HEX 000001cf is equivalent to DEC 463
So here the Set-Up Lock PIN is 0463
Note that your Set-Up Lock PIN will always have four digits.

IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.

              Try disconnecting the Antenna cable
Startup the box. Goto setup , disable the password protection for menu

Are you using PLi Images ?

You're lucky that your supplier did not disable DHCP and change the default ftp login pass otherwise that method would be useless...

Supposedly jtag... but it depends on the situation. If dreamup does not respond at all with a null modem cable then I suppose it's pretty much useless..

jtag is more targeted towards bricked boxes.. IMO..

                        Hi Guys

I have removed the antenna cable and rebooted. But i cant find the disable the password protection in the Menu.

I need to scan for all channels but can't bypass the PIN prompt

                        Regards

The fastest & most effective method, to check with the person who sold you the box.

Are you using PLi Images ?
I tried to follow the steps above.
However, it also wanted me to enter the setup pin when i tried to access setup in Menu.
My box is using PLi images from what I see on the boot-up screen.

is there a default pin? or any other way to bypass entering the pin?

Thanks for the help in advance!
