does it communicate if you manually select model, year & engine type? must admitt i've always gone for manual selection & had no problems with communication

Some of the copy interfaces have issues with CAN. You should be able to hear relays clicking inside, as previous poster says, your new vehicle is CAN, your old one wasn't. Maybe that is the clue.

thanks everyone for your help, what I found out was that this software some how doesnt work on my new car, so I searched the forum and found this person who uploaded various versions of the software, tried a few untill one of them worked without needing the verification code, so its working spot on, for those of you who own a astra H or MK5 and fited HID kit you will find they display a warning signal or the lights strobe when engine is on, with OP-COM you can use it to program the lights to accept the HID kit therefore you dont need to buy CANBUS kit which is over 100 pounds,

anyway, now for part two of help I need, Im trying to get into the ECU for millage correction etc etc but it asks me for a 4 digit password, can anyone help me find this password? or has a software that fully works which I can use with my interface? thanks

the password is on the car pass (same as your radio code) but as z786 said opcom won't help. I don't do that sort of thing anyway so cannot be of any further assistance

    Default hello z786...

In regards to this tool you recommended... Opel EDC16...

It says on the description that for some cars changes in dash too... Description is kind of confusing for me so I am not quite sure for which models is able to change in ecu and dash together... Is that for the models where it says read/write KM....

    Thanks in advance...

Here is the info from site you recommended...

The software is enriched in the possibility of changing dashboard in selected models.
