2002 focus 1.8 tdci engine

hi all, can anyone tell me if later engines can be transplanted in this car,engines tired and old (gone round the clock) seen engines advertised on ebay but most ask about engine code to see if compatible ....not sure how to find engine code so was hoping for a few tips.

Ask your local dealer for the engine code.
Other engines at least require another ecu and maybe even another wiring loom, which will present problems with the immobilizer system.
Also there is the problem will it mechanically fit - to the engine mount, the gearbox, etc. That question can only be answered if you known your own engine code.
