Eeprom programer. Need help to understand.

Hi everyone,

I was reading this forum for few days, trying to find information about airbag crash data removal. Things I understood, that I need eeprom programmer, software, also I need to remove eeprom chip from airbag module.

Basically, my question is about eeprom programmer hardware. Most of you are talking about UPA USB programmer, Orange4 programmer. But as I saw the price of these, I was suprised. They cost a bit

So, is there a simple eeprom programmer circuit I can build on my own at home ant to use it to clear crash data on my 8A0 959 655 BOSCH 0 285 001 085 AIRBAG SENSOR?

Besides, what eeprom programmer you are using with Ponyprog?

One more thing, what hardware (cheaper one) shoul I use with this software:
Tachosoft airbag resetter;
Vag eeprom programmer;
Airbag v1.0;

You need hardware for vag eeprom programer only and you can use any kkl interface based on max232. Works greatAs for programmers you need at least Seeprog and upa if you would like to work with immo tacho and airbag modules. Good luck

A cheap wellon programmer can do the job,and gives you also message if chip is brocken,or if you have poor contact on some pin

For Pony prog,you can search pony page,there are some boards,bit i think it s not the right programmer for what you need it...

Would a vp190 be better than a vp280 for just doing air bag and im*o?

you seems forget the motorola MCU's, i would like to advice by an Xprog M, or Upa usb or willem.

For SPI and Microwire serial eeproms you can use the promammer for pony, on lancos web page. The cheapest on the hand, 3xresistors 3xZenner diodes. It`s incredible simple and exceptional good. No need to invest money for read-write serial eeproms.

Not sooooo exeptional good as you say....it works,but many times,you need leave resistors,because with resistors you wont have good signal,and without your LTP Port can be damaged if something fails

Never but never failed. And by the way, it works on COM port not on LPT. But I am sure that without resistors fails, the resistors are there for limiting the current through the Zenners cutting the -5V coming from the COM port, otherwise the EEPROM is burn.

It works on both COM and LPT...i have dumped some atmega162 this way,by LPT..

Ok, but the resistors and diodes are from conversion COM signals ( +12V and -12V ) to digital +5V and zero. Important is not to spend money to banal things that can be done by yourself, whether they work on COM or LPT.
