    Default Fiesta Air Con Problem

My son has just got himself a fiesta 1.4 with air con but the air con isnt working. I assumed it just needed charging so bought a kit to do it but when I checked the pressure it was already over the 30 PSI mark so I assume the charge is OK. The clutch doesn't click in and out as you would expect. I compared it with my wife's fiesta and that starts at the same pressure but when the compressor clutch clicks in the pressure rise to 40 PSI on that. Getting a bit out of my depth now so does anyone have any ideas what it might be or know a good air con man in the Liverpool area.

The light comes on and I could only see one A/C fuse on the fuse board and that seemed OK, 10 amp I think.

Just been in the car again you can hear the clutch operating but still no cooling. I guess the best think might be to get it re-gassed professionally and see if that does the trick.

    Default ac

30 is two low to start up. Hook that can up start the car. turn the ac switch on, open the valve on the can holding the tap up so only vapor not liquid gets pushed into the system and let the car suck it in. It will take a minute or two.

I hate those DIY recharge kits ! Look under the bonnet for the yellow sticker that tells you how much refrigerant you should charge it with in grams ......... right, now then how much have you put in with your DIY kit ........??????? and how much was there in before you put some more in ??????? my advice get it checked correctly.

As far as do it your self kits they work great as long as the system is not completely empty. If completly empty it will need to be vacuumed to remove all air and any possible moisture. I allways add untill the high side psi. is ambient temperature [farenheit] times two plus ten percent with the compressor on and the condensor cooling fans running. low side should be 20-30 psi running. If high and low are to high you have to much in the system, contamination or lack of air flow acroos the condensor. Stay cool and support diy!

If you like the diy kits you should stock up, don't think they
will be for sale next month, the safe handling of refridgerant
law comes in, and that should end there sale...

in this case diy should stand for 'don't involve yourself',
the gas is dangerous in the wrong hands, one spray in your
face and the fluid in your eyes freezes,

just treat it with respect if your doing it yourself...
