Bosch RB8 cluster eeprom dump

Hi everyone,

What cable and software do i need to read/write a full eeprom dump of a 2003 Bosch RB8 v25 cluster (1JO920926A)
I also need to know which values to change in the HEX editor to activate "miles to empty"

I have vag tacho 2.2 but the dump looks incomplete and only goes to address 380 !

Have been told that this version (1.4) will not read the rb8 eeprom from 4 different suppliers.

Heard you can use that cable up to version 5* but no one has confirmed that it actually works. Anybody upgraded their 1.4 to 5*

My suggestion is : dont play with clone cables on this kind of dash. Manny guys cry here after they are used them.

This dash is easy m8. Is a Bosch RB8 from Golf IV not from Audi.
Tachouniversal, K+can commander, vagtacho search for seed key for this type of dash.
Vageprommer will find seed key instant and read eeprom in a least a minute

I had one RB8 that TachoUniversal/DIGA says "UNKNOWN SOFTWARE : Call for Suport" ))
With K+CAN Commander 1.4 very easy job by OBD

Vag tacho tried and failed to read eeprom (only up to address 380 then access denied) but i could read pin, change milage and also recode a new key to the immo.

So k+can commander 1.4 will read/write a full eeprom dump from this golf rb8 cluster which i can modify with a hex editer and reload to activate "miles to empty"

of course This value was found by me some years ago...

0x381 00 = RKM off 02 = RKM on

Have i modded this right? and what will this now enable? miles to empty or illuminated needles? thanks.

I know that the Audi A4 RB8 is 2005-2007 and you say it's a Bosch 2003 RB8!

I have a mk4 golf 2001 with RB8 so think its just varied through years.
