You do know that the Xclamps etc are clearly stamped with the manufacture dates. Along with Serial number to match motherboard. Microsft never used to check all these things but since they started recieving boxes that people tried to repair and stuck back togeher they are doing this.

The Motherboard, Chassis and Xclamps, and case all need to match. I used to keep all my xclamps for this reason.

You could try fooling them as i have tried in the past but they thoroughly check them now. All you will end up with is ?40 quid out your pocket for postage.

I have a bundle of xclamps. You can have them for price of postage.

I never even noticed any stamps on the x clamps as i just throw them in the bin normally. This is my first time trying this so ill see what happens.

The xbox in question is just in warranty and is getting picked up soon, as i have managed to source all the parts.

If it doesnt work then i will know what to do in the future, but if it does work then i might give it another go with a different console.

I will keep you updated as to what happens.......fingers crossed

I can honestly say the outcome is you get your banged up console back.
