    Default sony bravia screen problem

    hello
    have a sony bravia lcd its a 40 inch 4 years old
    the problem i have is that the picture just went, the screen is blank but i have sound
    i am stumpted what to do
    is it for the bin?

    probably you have two choices one you have already mentioned the bin, the other is to get a tv repair man to find the fault and give you an estimate for the cost of repairs then decide.

    Are you using any HDMI control boxes by any chance?

    the only thing hdmi plugged in is the blu ray player and that is not on
    i suppose the repairman is the way to go but was just checking if there was something simple i was missing

    Is there any flashing lights on the panel,...IE:intermitant flashing red light? next to the standby light.

    If there is?,.itwill be the lamp blowen,.. part no xl2400 on mine(?99 on ebay),. just double check it from the sony website,see if yours is the same,...,.very simple to replace yourself,..instructions on how to replace it, is in your user manual,trouble shooting or at sony online.

    no, no flashing red lights
    the green light is on
    not flashing either
    working normally just no picture

    just got a call from the repair shop
    screen needs to be replaced
    quote 718 euro
    yuck

    Get a 2nd opinion from sony,...it,s nearly always the lamp.1 was quoted ?350 from sony,...but replaced myself for ?99.

    Knock it off the stand and get in touch with the insurance company, they will have plenty in stock...chuck
