you are correct to buy xprog m8, as it can by-pass security and on some immo mcus there is security such as vw1 and opel 1. i use upa only for eeproms mostly as xprog seems to moan alot about bad connections on eeproms

there is some hardware around also that can make transponder from dump such as tango, here is a link.
