I repaired a IR Merc flip key a while back.
Buttons had come unsoldered and the customer had put the batteries in wrong.
You can check if it is transmitting by looking at the LED through your camera phone, if it's working it will glow purple when you press the button.
I had to re-sync it with the car by holding down the button, lock then unlock the car with the blade, then start the car. All with the button held down.

Go for original MB keyprog2 from www.noimmo.lt, you'll not regret it. I've used AK series from China and MB keyprog2 original from them and I can tell you when come to Mercedes IR key making don't go for China tools as totally no support at all. The ESL tools came together with the MB keyprog2 save you a lot of work when compare to china tools, their support is good. The only thing to take note is maybe you'll need to get other tools to complete your Mercedes IR key making like Xprog-M to read the dump from EIS and ECU. Somemore they support the making of ir keys for the newer series of car just by calculation of the dump from your eis.

I wanted to ask experienced users of the noimmo tool for mercedes ir key programming if there is something to be aware of , before i buy from them the tool . What i mean is if the client after i do a key for him, he orders a key from dealer too, will it work ?His exhsisting keys will stll work ? Also the ESL and ECU can be done via diagnostic socket or they also need to be removed from vehicle for eeprom reading and editing ?
    Regards

If like they say it generates keys from just EIS dump then you have nothing to be afraid of as old and dealer keys should still work. I know this is possible though using Benz Commander by Abritus
