    Default I find this funny

I am not complaining about the Garage downloads being gone but you just have to wonder why the makers of the automotive software being traded wanted it stopped? Why it was only software to diagnosis their cars and trucks but it is ok to download software to make keys for cars and software to get around Immobilizer systems that can be used by the criminal element. You can even get help disabling the air bags on cars but god forbid you want to use software to actually fix their cars without costing you an arm and a leg.

In simple terms, the dealers don't do immo/airback/locksmith work so no loss of income to them, stolen cars need replaced .... happy days for car dealers.

The Dealers where i live are the only one that can on the newer cars if you lose all the keys. I know no locksmith that has a dealer scanner that can do Immo work. they only clone keys. all new volkswagon need to go to the dealer unless you can get a geko licence. To do Immo work legal you need dance and jump thru hoops and pay money to get a licence to do it.

Nastf locksmith licence is only 50 usd to appply and 100 usd per year + bonding and 1 mil liabilty insurance as long as your not a felon. I just sent my application in. Looks like it could pay for it self quick in my area with access to immo pin codes and key codes from almost all makers.

I have to agree with Wolfpack. It is a crazy situation, I always get the impression that this forum is manned by sensible and enthusiastic people, who want to help others to keep their cars in top condition. I doubt that more people now use the main steelers for repairs since closing the download section.
