Hello guys!

I just bought a chinese clone Tech2 with a preinstalled 32mb PCMCIA with GM software.

I would like to put Saab v145 software on the card.
Downloaded and installed the MCE software and the card reads out fine (Manual card detect), but when it comes to erasing/writing, I have not found any setting that works.

When I choose autodetect card, it sais "Failed to auto-identify the CARD type. Make sure the CARD write protect switch is off"

The problem is that the card doesen?t have a physical switch.

Does any of you encountered similar problems?

I don't know about aftermarket cards. Myfactory cards have a switch in the end of the card. Also my cards have to be written with 12 volts. They can read the card but not write back to them. Most newer laptops can't do this. I use an old Dell Latitude.

I use a Dell Latitude D610 during my tries.
Pretty old stuff, but maybe not old enough to have a 12V PCMCIA.

The Tech2 also states the card is in write protect during initialization, but no switch to be found on the PCMCIA card.

I use a dell d610 and writes fine.. my clone card and genuine card both have switches in the end... although i do ind that the genuine card works better for Holden software but the non genuine for the US based software

It took me long time to find, so here it is, in case anyone still needs it. Anyone tried to copy Tech2 cards using PCMCIA to USB adapter from Aliexpress?

My luck with AliExpress/other chinese PCMCIA adapters seems to be hit or miss. The first one I got worked fine with certain PCMCIA writing software but my older copy of MCE not so much.

Just in case anyone interested - copy on CF card plus PCMCIA adapter doesn't work. I've tried cards and adapters pictured below (except cards were 64MB, not 32MB, because 32MB CISCO card has only 30.5MB actual capacity, TECH2 image can not be written on it).
Laptop sees CF card+adapter no problem, Memory Card Explorer recognizes, writes image, verifies written information no problem. But Tech2 doesn't see card at all, it says "no PCMCIA card detected". Two cards, two adapters - same result.
Considering that ready to go Tech2 PCMCIA card from China is under $20 nowadays, no sense to try troubleshot why CF+adapter doesn't work.

answer to all this is simple... you NEED a card reader/writer that can do Linear cards, also ALL WRITERS FROM ALI ARE ATA WRITERS
ALSO the card you need MUST BE A LINEAR CARD NOT ATA

old laptops with win98/xp you will have a chance to read and write them

here is something else, a 10mb bin file will write on a 32mmb card
