Default Repair front left door lock polo X reg Help plz

    Hi all

For a year or so now the front left door lock of my polo has not worked at all you cant even insert a key in it, i remember once i actualy got the key in but it would not turn left or right and the key got jammed inside the door lock and would not budge for ages. Is there any one who can help me in a way to fix this issue or even tell me what parts to get so i can have a go myself. I have seen on the net somthing about a door repair lock kit but not sure if thats what i woudl need? Is it a easy fix? Or am i looking at a high cost for fixing it down the garage?

    Cheers for any info

So once its done do i need to use new keys for the car how does it all work? If i change the door lock that means a new key for the passenger side front but then would i need to use old key for drivers side front and same for ingition? I dont get it with how the keys will work with the new lock and vice versa.
(Im really not clued up about motor vehicles but in trying so forgive me)

    Thanks

Yes i think i will take your advice on board, i have done abit of digging around and i pushed the key in the door lock and forced it to turn left and right and it worked and it unlocked the doors and locked them but when i did it again i heard somthing go crack and now the key just spins around while inserted into the passenger aide door lock. I might just take the whole door handle off and change the lock hopfully it wont be the anulator behind the lock which is what i was told by a scarp yard that it could also be that.

Looks like a trip either to the motor vehicle locks smiths or the garage then for me.

    Update

I just took the door handle off and noticed that the lock bits appart from the paddle are broke, so i was advised to buy a vw polo repair kit, which i got from ebay its on its way. I put a flat head screw driver into the door lock mechanism after i removed it and the lock worked fine and when i turned the screw driver to the left the windows came down as well?
I will update once i manage to fit the repair kit bundle for the lock, the barrel seems ok also so hopefully no need for another key. Fingers crossed.
