    Depends on what you want.
All aftermarket scanners are good in some area's and bad in others.

Carmanscan is very good on Asian. It is sold in the USA, but I have no idea how good it is on American vehicles.
If you have not such a large budget, look at the Carmanscan Lite. That's a lot cheaper than a VG.
Same applies for the OTC Pegisys. Expensive.
You're better off with a more simpler scanner and a seperate scope - Pico-scope is good.

Carman is good for Asian but almost nothing serious for US cars. If you need to work seriously on US cars, you need to buy a MasterTech.

On the other hand, you may find G-Scan more attractive and with much better coverage on Asian Cars in compare to Carman VG. It's also cheaper than VG.

Carman was previously the producer of original tools for Hyundai and Kia, but because of their very bad service and conflicts with Hyundai, their contract was canceled in 2008. Now, GIT is producing the new OEM tool for Hyundai and Kia. So the coverage you get on Hyundai and Kia on G-Scan is 100% OEM, but Carman is now almost 80% on those two.

My own experience is that GScan is also better on Japanese cars too.

The quality of support and the people work in GIT are way much better than NexTech which makes Carman.

With price of a VG+, you can probably buy a Vetronix VCI (boschdiagnostics.com) for US cars + a GScan for your Asians.

What makes and models do you work on mostly? The Pegisys and snappy scanners are great for US vehicles and so so for asian. They are better now for the major asian ones. Toy, honda, nissan. I think the best euro scanners for obd are on laptops.
