307 key confusion

Hi

So i brought a spare key from ebay under the impression that i could reprogramme it for my 307. Turns out that despite many forums (not this one) saying you can. You can't. It's a pity i didnt stumble across this forum beforehand, you guys seem to know your stuff.

Anyway, i have the blade cut, the problem is the transponder. I have my pin code (9T0C) but not really sure where to go from here. I'm full on broke atm so want to minimise costs as much as i can.

Is there a way i can program the transponder myself? i'm very good with computers, i just don't know where to start with this whole pp stuff, like where i'd get the hardware to connect it up.

Assume your 307 is pre 2006 with a 2 button squarish remote, it will have a T14/ID46 chip in it. The chip is locked to the vehicle this remote came off and cannot be unlocked or reused, the chip is junk. You need a new virgin chip in it and then an auto locksmith might be able to program into your car's immo box diagnostically. I cannot be sure but I think some manufacturers also lock the remote to the vehicle as well, if not then I think you can program the remote manually. Its 2 stage process, sorry I can't be positive about that.

Ebay is wonderful you can buy 'genuine' remotes for your vehicle but often the chips are locked and cannot be unlocked especially anything with an ID46.

i have just checked you can only program the central locking part of the key your self, according to what i found out you need your code card to get the transponder programmed. i am not sure what transpoder chip it uses but i would be inclined to believe that as it is peugeot 307 it will be phillips crypto 46,this at the moment cannot be cloned, it has to be programmed into the ecu via diagnostic or onboard key programing equiptment , i only have bench top programing equipment but i believe that the SBB should do the job. even without the code card that the dealer wants.

yea you are right in thinking its pre 2006 and has the squareish key.

Is there no way to do it myself using pp? any ideas how i would go about getting this?

Simple answer is NO unless you have the correct tools to do the job. First thing you need is an unlocked T14/ID46 chip with Peugeot logic on it. So you need to find a supplier and they are not expensive but would anyone sell just one chip?
A but like asking for fish and 1 chip please.

You then need some type of diagnostic equipment to program that chip into your immobiliser using your immo code to allow access and programming.

Your best option is to ring around a few auto locksmiths and get some quotes, explain the problem and be clear you just want to replace the chip and then have the key programmed to your car and you DO have the immo code.

If you already have a key that will unlock the doors manually and start the engine then there is no rush to do this unless you are trying to sell the car with a remote key, so time to save up some pennies.

yea i'm selling the car and was told by many it would work. If only i'd asked the pros. I'm not so bothered about the remote, just need it to work with the immobiliser so it starts the engine.

no i have 1 working key, but it would add a bit of value if i had 2.

I wouldn't mind paying ?20 to have it sorted but some of the quotes i got were outrageous. One non dealership wanted over ?100.

face it you cant do it yourself, you have bought a pile of crap off ebay , and are not likely to get a key programmed by anyone for ?20 , im an autolockie in the uk and get inundated with calls from people in your situation , i have not invested 150 k in equipment to help people that cant except a key will cost 60 quid , which your car would , keep looking mate ?20 will get you no where

other way would be get some quotes, and knock xxxx of the price of car.

you could always bodge it by taping the working chip close to the key barrel !!!!

please be aware though that the car has no immobiliser and insurance company might not be so understanding

but what do you expect if you only want to spend ?20
