Thieves stole thousands of pounds during a break-in at a Royal British Legion club on Armistice Day, police have confirmed.
Detectives said the robbery on South Muirhead Road in Cumbernauld was "appalling" and that the thieves "obviously had no conscience".
Officers said takings and a number of collection tins were stolen from the premises, totalling a "four-figure" sum of cash.
The break-in was discovered on Friday.
Inspector Stevie Hazlet, from Strathclyde police, said: "This is an absolutely appalling crime which has had a huge impact on the local community members who regularly socialise at the club - particularly given the time of year.
"The person or people responsible obviously have no conscience.
"The premises was locked up and secured at around 2345 GMT on Thursday, so it has obviously been broken into some time between then and 0825 GMT."
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man was also charged with stealing a Remembrance Day charity tin in Kirkcaldy.
The 27-year-old is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday, 15 November.
Detective Sergeant Colin Robson said: "We are appealing for anyone with information about the thefts from charity shops within Kirkcaldy to contact us.
"We have extra officers dedicated to investigating these heartless crimes."

Don't know if you saw in news re that guy down here that's been stealing collection tins? There was footage of him going into a shop with cutters to cut through the chain that holds down the tin.
All theft is diplorable, but theft from a charity is even more so.
I hope a group of recently returned squadies catch the coont & give him a week or two of hell, before turning him over to the police.

IF I HELPED HIT THE THANKS BUTTON
Nail on the head right there.
I've got a fairly decent grasp of history and know just how close we came, neighbouring nations not only surrendered but actively collaborated to take away what little freedom i have left.
The deck stacked well against us with seemingly insurmountable odds and a nation who decided "HELL NO! Not on my watch."
People who put down their lives for me and mine without question, not to mention the untold millions of civilians who helped the effort, died in straffing runs from countless tons of ordinance falling from the sky.
The local chavs round here actively PROTEST against a rememberance! Diluting the concept with i'll concieved notions that its about recent conflicts in Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Iraq and the like. Failing to consider that the only reason that they can even have an independant opinion is down to a few million people who chose to do something insane, unthinkable, and had the brazen stupidity to think they could pull it off. A nation rising up in unison and doing something wonderful.
It disgusts me to my very core at the poor attendance at my local cenotaph every rememberance sunday, people died to give you the freedom to be able to go out on a freezing cold sunday in November and remember their plight, to celebrate the fruits of their labours.
To honor those who parted the red sea, not to then go and piss on the ****ing sand.
It makes me wonder if theres anything really worth fighting for any more, people are way too self absorbed, disrespectful and selfish nowadays.
All i can say is people need a right good kick up the ass, had i not turned out at the park on november i would have been beaten black and blue for my blatant disrespect, had i even so much as considered theiving from the poppy tin, hell i cant even concieve of what fate would have befallen me.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.
yup "RESPECT" none of it about at the moment
the young think its a outdated and historic thing to have any sort of thought for the vets of any of the conflicts before or ongoing
absolute shame robbing the charity tins of any kind
but a sign of the times ? sadly
Today is the Tomorrow you worried about yesterday ......Was it worth it ?
