ask if the name and address was verified by some i.d or not.if not they dont have a case .it used to be part of the rules for accepting name and address that verification was asked for at the time of travel.however it was not a legal requirement to provide same.good luck.

He has contacted them twice now with no responce but another demand for payment.
Tell them to piss off, they have to prove that he was there, not you proving he wasn't. Let them cover the cost of that, why should you. And if they take you to court, I would also sue them for tarnishing your name.
