    Default sound issue

I have a video on my pc, the sound quality is fine but as soon as i copy it to my hdd or mem stick, the sound is gone. can any of you guys tell me if its possible to rectify it. Is it possible that i'd have to transfer the file. Thanks for replies in advance.

Its an avi file, but i'm not sure the problem is specific to that one type of file.

I thought that two, but i get same result whether i stream, use mem stk or hdd. yet it plays perfectly on my laptop. If i transfered the file instead of copying would it make a difference. The file transfer is something i've never done, i've copied everything up to now.

Strange. What player are you using? Have you tried other players?
I find VLC player one of the best, in fact I use it for everymovie file unless it is a massive file which I use XBMC live.

VLC can be had at VideoLAN - VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player

im agree with billybongo11 theres somethink corrupt on there
thats causing your issues proberly a driver or codec

remove your sound driver and then reinstall *maybe update if possible*
remove all audio codecs then reinstall them

also if you have your disc installed with
    your operating system

(you will need an administrator account for this)

    xp

    put disc in
    go to run
    type sfc /scannow
    let it scan

    windows 7

    put disc in
on the start search and program files box
    type cmd or command prompt
right click on on it go on run as administrator
or run as another and type in your user info
    then type sfc /scannow
    then let it scan.

I never load ANY codecs. I simply throw ANY file at VLC and it plays em. Why makes things complicated???

    Download klite codec pack.

Free-Codecs.com : Download K-Lite Codec Pack 6.6.0 FULL, K-Lite Codec Pack 6.6.0 STANDARD, K-Lite Codec Pack 6.6.0 BASIC : K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools

Also, if any player is not playing the file, look into your sound device drivers/speaker config.

So any mp3s play? are your speakers setup to correct setup?
