    Default STAR2000 COMPACT3 PC serial cable defective

    Hi
    I just purchased STAR2000 COMPACT3 FOR MERCEDES-BENZ with Xentry2010.03 ,but I cant manage to get it work yet.
    I set the COM 2
    Bits per second: 115200
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: None
    Stop bits: 1
    Flow Control : None.

    I tryed many times without succes. I open the adapter of PC serial cable and I see wire unsoldered .Inside the adapter I see PCB with MAX232.I solder the cable , try the cable on another DAS diagnose and it dosent work.But the other DAS original its PC serial cable was without adapter on the meadle of cable.
    Did anyone tryed both versions of serial cables with and without adapter on MULTIPLEXER ?

    There are 2 variants of cables to PC. If your MB Star is with adapter in the middle of the cable you should not use with the other multiplexer. Moreover, not all adapters are the same.

    Tell us what kind of installation have you for DAS-Xentry?
    How many com ports do you have?
    Have you changed the cal.ini file?
    How can you be so sure that the cable you have is faulty?
    Have you tried the set you bought to another PC- notebook?
    You see there are many parameters you have to examine before you conclude that the cable is really faulty.

    -The DAS-XENTRY instalation is 03/2010 AddONs 1333
    -XENTRY can not be run I got message :
    (2221-29) NO ACCESS
    AUTHORISATION CODE!
    I use IBM T30 and it is on perfect condition.I tested com port with other programs and they all working perfect.
    I did not change cal.ini file coz I have hard disk as it is from dealer.Maybe it cud not be installed propetly,I see many other faults.If I start DAS from icon on desktop ,it is starting ,but I can not see on the vehicles on the list only truck,bus ...
    If I start from start meny go to DASen (english ) I see all configuration.
    Shuld I change or not cal.ini file?

    Yes mate first try to change the cal.ini file from Part_T or Part_W to PartD.
    There was no USB dongle with the external hard disk?
    But the BEST thing you have to do is to make a clean installation to your T30 notebook.
    These sellers do not really know or understand what are they selling.

    I just tested the cable on the other same type of MULIPLEXER with adapter on the midle and the cable,and it is working.
    So the cable is ok.
    Now I dont know if the problem is on hard disk or on Multiplexer?

    I just did the new install of DAS and XENTRY on other hard disc and situation is the same - Cant comunicate with Multiplexer .Now I am sure 100% that MULTIPLEXER is fault. Did anyone try to repair MULTIPLEXER for this kind of problem?

    hi have you tried to test MAX232
    1 = 7.0 ? 8.0 volt
    2 = 9.5 ? 12.0 volt
    3 = 2.5 ? 3.5 volts
    4 = 4.0 ? 5.0 volt
    5 =-5.0 ?-6.0 volt
    6 =-9.5-12.0 volt

    Today I opened the Multiplexer and I see somethink that is strage to me .In the enter of PCB I see too :
    ADM483 and MAX232
    the same as in adapter of PC cable.
    My question is : Is this cable sended to me wrong?
    Maybe I shuld have cable without adapter .
    Check on the photo.

    Some multiplexers are built to accept both cables, the direct RS232 on without conversion as well as the one with the RS232 to RS485 converters.

    If you were never able to connect to the mux with your current cable, it could well be that you need the different cable.

    Hopefully someone recognises your mux and can help from experience.

    Today I checked another same mux and it is 100% same as mine and it is working with the same cables.
    So the mux is in fault. Does any one had same experiance? what can it be mostly ?
