    Exclamation Smart Key Questions!

guys i have bought 10 keys from ebay, i always buy from ebay and works well,
the keys are for camry hybrid with keyless, part no HYQ14AAB, ALL keys are work when pressing the buttons, but 4 of them when i program the vehicle dont detect when i stick it to the start button but the other 6 detected immediately and programmed, i have replace the batteries and no joy, i always do reset using the chinese dongle and i have techstream, please help me how to fix them.

each key is bought from different seller, are AVALON and camry hybrid fobs are the same?

You need to make sure that the emblem on the back is the same (silver or not silver). The Avalon and Camry fobs are NOT interchangeable.

Secondly, some of these cars will not accept a used fob, if it's used it may not work.

they are all silver , are you sure that AVALON and CAMRY HYBRID keys dont work on each others? because the are the same remote with the same part no and fcc id HYQ14AAB

since i always do reset the car will accept the used proxy, any ideas are welcome

From all info I have, the two prox's are different parts across the board for every year they've been around.

I really can't speak for the Avalon prox (not as common here), but with authority on the Camry.....even with a reset, I have been unsuccessful programming used prox's.

i have noticed all sellers list the same smart key remote for camry hybrid and avalon even the big websites that sells remotes i say maybe the remotes wont work is taken from avalon, i only work on camry hybrid and we dont have avalon, i checked the keys from inside they almost the same some chips serial is different, it seems we both have the same problem,

do you think resetting using TechStream will give different result than resetting using the dongle? i'll do a try soon.

If it doesn't work with techstream, then it won't work with the dongle.

The dongle is very hit and miss. It very well may program the chip---which is the same across the board, just 4d67, but the prox functions may not work.

Non prox= no problem programming keys.
Prox= good luck, it may or may not work for prox function, and from my experience and folks that I know's, it's not shooting fish in a barrell w/ the orange tool.

im used to do it using the dongle and will try techstream,
the problem is not matter of programming, in the moment some keys are detected immediately and others the car don't see ,

the prius smart key programming is harder than camry, but i can do it easily via techstream and never had problems with any keys,

Ah yes, the Prius. Don't plug that orange dongle into it, or you will probably be sorry.
Techstream is your best bet on that car particularly.

Did you actually test the voltage of your batteries with a multi-meter? Just a stab, but I've found fresh batteries out of a package to be too weak to program Nissan prox, for instance....perhaps your issue?

These cars are extremely finicky when it comes to what they want to see in the prox. I always buy new ones, have good equipment, and still have programming issues with Toy prox at times.

I bought a used lexus fob from ebay cheap. Red LED would show normal working condition but whatever I tried, it would never program to anything. A friend had a module to read frequencies off a remote. The Lexus fob shot off a weak and off frequency not matching OEM. In short the remote was hurt after being dropped or catching some water... Useless and I was out a couple bucks.

The first thing i did is testing the voltage, original installed battery shows 2.9 v and i installed a brand new battery with 3.0+v but same results , after testing the remote freq and found working i think the problem with the prox IC which is shown in the photo below
    HYQ14AAB

i must keep searching until i find the reason and fix it because they are massive loss for me, the 4 refuse to program worth more than 800$ :S

Its matter of luck, i bought more than 25 remotes from ebay, for lexus and prius and camry, they all worked except these 4 camry hybrid fobs, the freq is good on test, the proxy is the problem

any help or suggestions or opinions are welcome.

Again, some of these cars, and don't ask me the logic, do not like used fobs. They smell the difference somehow.
