it says WAIT for 30 seconds then goes to SECURE this means radio is locked to car via can,vin or immobiliser.

Hi, This means that the unit Locked and you need to wait at least 24 hours for the message "CODE" to display. I read also you need to leave the radio ON until the message appear, but does that mean draining the battery

Try to disconnect the battery, can you disable the can check?
