    soffry from bad english
Yes you right with the lamp but this hapen only in the morning and only with the first start.
Sow i don t have acces to do that.
As i run most of time in the city and i start/stop the car evry days a lot of time i think my starter its tired.
If the realy of selector level is fail you will not hear solenoid never.

if the solenoid is ticking, that would suggest the "hold in" winding is ticking - suggest the brushes are worn out - unless it has a sticky brush and 3 is not enough to make it run.

Starter off, whip the lid off it.

What a nice word, no but if the armture needs more currant when cold (early Ford Transit) and the brushes are only just making contact

Not the winding ticking, but it's wants to start but it can't - the holdin winding will try and pull the plunger in, but got no chance

I have too agree with the test light suggestion that djwaldemaras posted on the first page. That should be the first thing the shop does to test the system.

Nobody wants there car off the road longer than needed. The time/cost ratio will probably help you decide whether to rebuild or replace the starter.

don't we all, but is it one of them starters you can't get at.

Had a Vulva 850 V6 IMPOSSABLE to get the the trigger wire without removing starter, so removed starter, 15 mins, stripped tested ok, refitted with a test trigger wire , never see car again - so pleased.
