Lots of new "features" have been added so DONT plug in to a car or you may find something has suddenly been corrupted.

Seems the developer has programmed in some anti-copying measures that will cause problems for certain parts of the car.

You wont see anything happening until its too late.
Oh and by the way if my post has been at all helpfull it will encourage me to respond to posts if you remember to please press the Thanks Button

where did this information come from?? it's one thing wiping illegal software from the devices PIC. But another world damaging someones car, the developer would end up in court!

Surely the developer can do what he wants. It isn't his hardware that would be causing the probs.

    that's incorrect.

If done knowingly it would be illegal i.e. a routine written for the purpose of damaging someone vehicle.

However if the clone's incombatibility with the geuine software caused a "bug" that corrupted some data then fair enough.

Look at the money and lawyers Microsoft have and all they can legally do is disable the illegal software.

Who says the routine has to damage the vehicle, all they have to put in is the reset ecu or something similar.

Don't think it would last long in court TBH.

It's still damaging third partys property that the developer has no right to do. The only right they have is to prevent theft of THEIR property.

Who's going to take him to court?

You are using HIS software without his permission on hardware it was not designed for.....

Open your mouth and you will have a long line of people ready to put you behind bars, FAST, Trading Standards etc....

He can do what he wants.

the person commiting the offence is the manufacturer/seller of the clone.

the only thing the developer owns is the intellectual property in the software he has the right to protect this and rightly so.

The car (including software on ecu's etc) and the cloned device (illegal copy or not) does not delong to him so he would not be legally allowed to damage/delete them.

This software needs to be activated before it can be used, so without a patch or keygen, it's useless, unless you have a genuine interface.

I have just installed the software on my pc and gone into the configuration and set my clone interface as revision b in the settings and i get a error message saying 'install usb driver or interface not plugged in' I also try this with the vaux-com software and have the same problem; it doesn't recognise the interface.

Then it is illegal full stop acording to your argument.

Just because using an interface has an outcome you like (i.e. changes the settings in the ECU), it doesn't make it any difference if it has an outcome you don't like.

Wouldn't stand up, and who afterall would bring the case?

As has been said it needs to be cracked yet and the last version to be cracked is a year old now, so don't hold your breath anyway.

I agree all i'm saying is it was done to knowingly damage then it would be illegal.

It's no different to breaking your neighbours window to get back the tv he stole from you, you have BOTH broken the law.
