i use my dreambox in the caravan with no wi fi.

    so i got:

    1. a wireless router
    2. a usb dongle
    3. wifi bridge

put the dongle in the wireless router, put wifi bridge in back of dreambox and it picks up the wireless router.

you would need to set up the router and wifi bridge first though on ur computer

    Dream
    1. A laptop.
    2. USB High-Gain Wireless TP-Link for over 200Mbs.
    3. 1 Ethernet wire.

Switch on your laptop and get connected with wireless TP-Link.
Connect Ethernet wire from your laptop to Dream Ethernet connection.

    ENJOY.

    hi
    the above will work

If the dongle and router gets a good signal and is near the router just connect with an ethernet cable

    I have had the 2 aboves working with a dm500s and a openbox s9
just to make things clear this was using a 3g dongle and 3g router (will also work connected from router to receivers with homeplugs)

    hope this may help

    hi

this is not my work I followed and used with a laptop ( before getting a 3g router)

How to connect dream box using 3g,

    1. Connect your USB dongle to computer and connect to the internet.

    2. goto run menu and type cmd or
accessories Command Prompt / Programs / start

    3. you will get dos command screen

    4. type ipconfig

    5. You will be given two ip settings, you might see on top 192.168.0.1 or some ip range.

    7. Connect your dream box to tv and connect your computer also, if you connect using directly, you should use cross cable to connect your computer.

    8. you should share your network connection, to do that
    network connections / settings

    9. start select your 3G or GPRS connection.

    10. click right mouse button and select properties and select advance tab on the dialog box and on the internet connection sharing tab select allow user to share my internet connection

click ok button and close it

Then go to dreambox on the
communication settings / settings /menu is 192.168.0.1 then select your ip as 192.168.0.2 then Set gateway as your computer ip 192.168.0.1 and name server also same ip rest of the things same.

    Save it and close

Wait till online comes and try to browse channels

    hope this may help

Don't need anything extra to the laptop and dongle other than a crossover ethernet cable.

Connect the cable to dreambox and laptop if your using any windows OS after 98 you can use internet connection sharing to share the connection.

Reboot the windows box, turn on the connection then dreambox will pick up an IP address from the laptop and use the laptop as the gateway. Done this a few times now I'm always amazed that it works.

Why people bother when you already got internet working in the house just make a direct connection.
