    Default Op-com and BMW 6.5

    Hello,
    I'm looking into buying these

    Op-com Op-com (V20090820),
    Bmw 6.5 CS BMW 6.5 interface,BMW carsoft

I am wanting to read and clear fault codes from the various ecu [engine, airbag, abs, etc] on Opel's and BMW [3 series mainly]. Would these have the relevant features?

I'd also like to be able to configure some of the settings in the ECU's to activate and deactivate some of the features like you can with Lexia/Peugeot planet, would these devices be sufficient?

    Or any other recommendations

    Thanks,
    Lee

Op-com can do what the factory tool can do and sometimes a little bit more on Opel/Vauxhall models from 1996 on.
    Manufacturer site for Op-com: index_en

Does that work with the old engine OBD port, not just the 16-pin one?

    Hello Lee,

If you're looking to work on BMW 3 Series, on a budget, then INPA and BMW Scanner are the best two. The only problem with BMW Scanner, is it requires you to purchase more than one version of both the software and the interface, to cover all the different 3 Series chassis':
    • v1.4.0 for E46/E46.5
    • v2.1.0 for E90/E91/E92/E93
It also lacks coverage for the E36 version (as far as i know). Therefore, INPA is probably your best bet, because it covers them all. When looking to purchase an INPA inteface, there's a couple of things you need to look out for:
    • Up to 2000MY, you're looking for an INPA/Ediabas ADS (Active Diagnostic Socket) interface, which has both K-Line and L-Line (Some older BMW's require a "wake-up" on Pin-15 of the 20-pin diagnostic socket, under the bonnet).
    • From 2000MY up to mid-2008MY, you'll need an INPA/Ediabas OBD interface (K-Line only, using the 16-pin OBD plug under the dashboard).
    • From mid-2008MY, you'll need a INPA/Ediabas D-CAN interface, sometimes referred to as an "Omitec Ediabas" (Diagnostic CAN, using the 16-pin OBD plug under the dashboard).
Just buy the interface on it's own, and if you PM me, i'll help you with the software. Hope that helps.
