    Default TRUE....

    John Aldridge: Hypocrisy of Tony Pulis on Luis Suarez difficult to stomach

    by John Aldridge, Liverpool Echo

    I COULDN'T believe what I was hearing when Tony Pulis called for Luis Suarez to be banned following his dive at Anfield on Sunday.
    This is the same Stoke manager who only a few weeks ago was praising Peter Crouch for getting away with a blatant handball in the penalty area before scoring against Manchester City.
    Listening to Pulis trying to take the moral high ground on the day when his defender Robert Huth had just got away with stamping on Suarez's chest was unbelievable.
    It's ridiculous how managers are so quick to criticise opponents when something happens against them but then condone similar behaviour when it's their own players in the spotlight.
    Don't get me wrong, what Suarez did on Sunday when he threw himself to the ground late in the second half was wrong. I hate seeing diving and something needs to be done about it.
    Suarez was cheating to try to gain an advantage in the same way as Crouch did recently.
    There was another crazy dive by Gareth Bale in Spurs' game against Aston Villa on Sunday. Players of this quality shouldn't be lowering themselves to this.
    It's time the FA dealt with the issue and I'd like to see a system put in place where if you have a player punished for diving then the manager gets fined ?100,000.
    It might be the only way to eradicate it because if it was hitting managers in the pocket they would no longer turn a blind eye to what's going on.
    I want Suarez to stop it because when referees see him do things like that it just reinforces the reputation he's got for going to ground too easily and it costs him decisions.
    I did have some sympathy for him on Sunday because he had lumps kicked out of him by Stoke and got very little protection.
    Huth was very lucky to get away with trampling on Suarez and even luckier that he won't face any retrospective punishment.
    Referee Lee Mason should have held his hands up and admitted he got it wrong. As it was Suarez didn't even get a free-kick and Mason laughing off his appeals just added insult to injury. Having tried to stay on his feet and got nothing out of Mason, in the end Suarez went back to his old ways.
    We seem to be talking about referees every week and we certainly haven't got the rub of the green so far this season. In general the standard of refereeing has been very poor.
    I was chatting to some Everton fans and they agreed there hasn't been one match where you've turned up and thought 'I'm glad he's doing our game today'. It's more a case of 'not him again!'
    Stoke are awful to watch and difficult to play against with so many bodies behind the ball. I can see why they have drawn five games out of seven. They used their physical strength to try to bully the likes of Suso, Sterling and Sahin. There were so many cynical fouls and they got away with it until Mason finally started dishing out some cards.
    We knocked the ball about really well and created chances but didn't get any luck in front of goal. It wasn't as fluent as the performance at Norwich but that was down to the way Stoke set themselves up.
    The one big positive was a first league sheet of the season for Pepe Reina. Defensively, we were very solid and coped with everything Stoke threw at us.
    IM SORRY but i will never have any sympathy for maggie thatcher .... the bitch

    If you watch this weeks Being Liverpool Ep 4 you'll see Brendan Rodgers hold 3 envelopes in front of the squad the night before the opening game at West Brom. The names of 3 people are written in each envelope that will supposedly let the team down this season.

    Apparently this method has been used before by Fergie according to Mark Hughes

    Philosophy my arse, Rodgers has read SAF autobiography and useing what he done with the envelopes after us winning 92/93 championship.

    Sir Alex Ferguson in 1988

    "This isn't just a job to me." "It's a mission. I am deadly serious about it. Some people would reckon too serious. We will get there, believe me. And when it happens, life will change for Liverpool and everyone else - dramatically."

    Sir Alex Ferguson. (20)

    MANCHESTER UNITED defender Jaap Stam has caused a further stir in his autobiography by claiming that Sir Alex Ferguson encouraged his side to dive in an attempt to earn penalties when playing in Europe.

    The Dutchman says that the English players in the squad found it hard to adopt the policy of going to ground easily, but that Ferguson believed that it was fair game on the continent.

    "It's got to the stage where he has even told us: 'Don't try and stay on your feet if you're in the box and get a slight kick," Stam revealed in his autobiography being serialised in the Mirror.

    "He wants us to copy other sides we face in European competitions and go down to win a penalty.

    "Far too often English players seem determined to keep running after getting a whack on the leg, even though the chance to get a shot in has gone.

    "I don't think diving has caught on with the English youngsters yet, as their fair-play mentality stops them from taking a tumble.

    "Coaches at academy levels are honest and would stamp out that kind of cheating from their team.

    Stam says that he does not advocate diving, as he is often penalised as a result of a forward going to ground under one of his challenges.

    "I admit to becoming frustrated by the frequency of diving in the Champions League.

    "Players from Holland and Scandinavia aren't divers, but those from Spain and Italy go down far too easily for my liking.

    "Even players in Germany are used to taking a dive. In all those countries it looks like they have been brought up with it since their school-days.

    "It's tricky for me to take a dive, though. If I fall down under the slightest kick, I'm going to look stupid falling down like I've been shot."

    Default Aggers tattoo

    Daniel Agger has explained why getting the initials of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' tattooed across the knuckles of his right hand was an easy decision to make.

    The Denmark centre-back - who last week signed a new long-term deal with the club - returned to Melwood this summer sporting the new ink, much to the delight of fans.

    Agger insists the tattoo was something he'd considered for a while, and he was more than happy to go under the needle once again to show his commitment to Liverpool.

    He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'd thought about it for a long time. As I said, I feel a part of this club - and I feel a part of this city. I have been here so long now, so it was an easy decision.

    "I am proud to be here and I think my knuckles show that."

    Agger on new deal
    News of Agger's new contract was greeted with joy from fans across the world when it was announced on Liverpoolfc.com last Friday afternoon.

    The 27-year-old is relishing life under Brendan Rodgers, particularly the footballing ideologies the boss is instilling within the squad.

    Agger said: "I am enjoying life under the new manager. I really like it and I am happy every day going into training.

    "I really feel we have a good team, a good mentality and a style of good football that I want to play. I definitely believe we can get back [to the top].

    "I'm not a fan of looking into the future. I take every day as it comes, but I work hard every day and try to achieve the goals I want to. It's important everybody is focused to achieve those goals."

    He added: "In terms of points, it hasn't been that good [so far this season] but I think we've played really well.

    "We've made a few mistakes, but in general we've played good football and now we just need the results. At the end of the day, that's the most important part"

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

    Today's report is black and white.The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
    The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

    Default Borini out

    The Italian Football Federation confirmed last night that Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has suffered a fractured right foot.

    Borini, who was training with the Under-21 side ahead of today's European Championship qualifier against Sweden, went for an MRI scan, which revealed the injury.

    The news will be a major blow to Liverpool's manager, Brendan Rodgers, who has only one recognised senior striker in Luis Suarez. Borini, a ?10.5m signing from Roma in July, has played 10 matches for Liverpool this season, scoring just once ? in the Europa League.

    ~~~~~~ it goes from bad to worse
    So how is everyone, Anyone else hate International breaks??
    Now that Borrini has a broken bone in his foot do you think we should give Samed Yesil a chance or would you like Pacheco or Adam Morgan to get a run?
