Irish-British consortium want complete Liverpool takeover

A consortium made up of Irish and British businessmen are interested in a complete takeover of Liverpool Football Club.

Reports today claim that the consortium is offering to buy out both Tom Hicks and George Gillett and hand Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez ?100million to spend on strengthening the first team in the summer.

Documentation backing up today's speculation also states that the consortium have a sponsor on board who is interested in the stadium naming rights and that if a sale can be struck, their sponsorship funds would enable the cash injection into the team for Rafa Benitez to launch a Premier League assault next season.

A condition of their proposed takeover is that Rafa Benitez remains in charge and that the current owners walk from Anfield and waive their rights to any future gate receipts and payments based on Liverpool's future success, something they tried to negotiate before with DIC.

Key figures from the consortium are on Merseyside today ahead of tonight's match.

Liverpool needs to always have 2 strikers up front if chelsea can make drogba and anelka work why can't Rafa make two work up front. Why i say this because when torres get's hurt who do we got plus playing torres upfront alone means the other strikers will be on the bench so how do we attract top class strikers to the team. Liverpool needs to get rid of the American owners cause they aren't spending any money to get players. Rafa should of got Van der Vart in the transfer window so we could get lucus off the pitch. Haven't you notice teams give him space to shoot cause he is never going score. Thank god we didn't get barry he sucked it up for man city today.

yes another poor performance from the reds we just dont look capable of winning a game at the moment we could go throu the team an no who wants replacing and thats most of them babel came on thurs an won the game for us played yesterday like he never seen a ball before cant wait for season to bne over so things can change hopefully at all levels of the club

what are YOU talking about how many games has torres missed in the last two seasons probably 30% if not more yes there is no creativity in the WHOLE team but that wasnt what i was commenting on read my comment and digest before having a go

m8 dont kid yourself there going nowhere and lets be honest it certainly wouldn't be to city they'd want to play for a BIG club which is what they're doing now
