The most successful club in english football history.....
We've taken a knock at "the riverside", but we are still creating chances - very soon some teams gonna be in for a real thrashing... trip to OT coming up.
Rick Parry (oh well) cost us Garath Barry and don't forget the fiasco when we nearly lost Gerrard to Chelsea - but i guess that's RB's fault? - don't think so.
For all the crowing from mancs - going on about how long it's been since we won the title, remember this "MUFC" are still using LFC history to motivate their ageing manager, he'll die trying to get them to achieve some parity in history. Oh well.

Remember - We've won it FIVE times.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I tend to live in the real world...Liverpool haven't had a squad good enough to win the league in donkeys years...hence we haven't won the league in donkeys years. It's not rocket science, it's not like Liverpool have had teams filled with great players and still failed. Since the Premier League started at most Liverpool have had three or four top class players in any given season, the rest were average to poor players. The quality players nearly always came from the youth system but we never had the financial clout to bolster the squad with transfered quality. If we had a squad equal to Uniteds and we were still failing then I really would be angry.

Compare the market value of Uniteds squad over the years to Liverpools and I reckon Uniteds has always been worth at least treble. ?30m on Veron in 2001, ?30m on Ferdinand in 2002, ?25m on Rooney in 2004...we have only just broke our club record at ?26m for Torres in 2008. So lets keep some perspective here, we are not in the same ballpark as United. If a club with most of the first team costing between ?18m and ?30m, like Uniteds, was not winning the league most of the time then I would be seriously disillushioned if I was a fan of that club.

    Here's a hypothetical scenario:

Imagine how United would do in the league if the spine of their team was this - Rooney, Carrick, Hargreaves, Vidic and Van Der Sar...the remainder of the squad being okish or average to poor players no better than any other Premier league team. Well the current Liverpool team only has Torres, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Reina...the remainder are okish but inconsistent, average players or just bloody awful.

We need new owners with very, very deep pockets. Without the financial ability to build a player for player squad equal to United then we will continue to finish second, third, fourth, etc.

And who would you blame for this , look at the points difference between us and our rivals across the park and ask yourself one question , has Rafa had enough , in both funds and time to bring us the Prem ? , i think he's had plenty.
Torres cost us ?1.5m more than the whole Everton squad and have showed us recently they're equal if not better than us.
All clubs (Man City excepted) , are rapidly finding they don't have bottomless pots to fund squads , especially in the current economic gloom.
But Moyes at Everton hasn't had a pot to piss in for years and has a knack of motivating players into consistant 5th or 6th premiership finishes.
Never rated Rafa , never will Mate .

You will note I didn't mention anything about Rafa...I don't rate him either.
I prefer the teams I support to play football not overly controlled robotic shite. Thats why I have to watch Spanish league matches after a Liverpool game just to remind myself what creative passing football looks like.

I was talking about the last 20 years as a whole. We have had a series of ordinary managers with ordinary finances for a so-called top European club. None of our managers since Dalglish have gone on to do anything in football management, except manage us. Liverpool no longer attract or can afford the real quality players out there. Barca, Real Madrid, AC Milan, etc seem to be able to keep buying stars even though we keep hearing they are going out of business every year. I mean look at what Ferguson has been able to spend over the years...not the overall figure but the amount on individual players. ?30m in 2001 was insane! Liverpool managers may have also spent ?30m but it was for five ordinary players. We shop at a much cheaper supermarket than United.

The point I was getting at was that regardless whether Rafa is still here next season, without very generous new owners who will allow us to squeeze three years of development into one transfer window then it'll be somewhere in the top five next season but not Number 1.

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

I agree he has bought too many average players but United fans love to skip over the slightly important fackt that Ferguson had bought or already had the following players in his squad before Rafa's start at Anfield. These players are still in the present squad:

    Ferdinand - ?30m
    Cristiano Ronaldo - ?12m
    Giggs - Youth
    Scholes - Youth
    Neville - Youth
    Brown - Youth
    O'Shea - Youth
    Fletcher - Youth
    Gibson - Youth

Rooney (?27m) joined the same summer that Rafa took over at Liverpool. That's more or less a pretty decent team there alone.
Rafa had to start from scratch cause here are the Liverpool players still at the club since 03/04:

    Carragher - Youth
    Gerrard - Youth
    Hyypia - ?3m

Your maths are not taking account of the money recouped from players sold on or the fact that Liverpool have a much stricter wage structure, United can afford to pay out fortunes in wages. you might like to try learning something interesting from Liverpool's website. So read all of this webpage and get back to me:

i see what your getting at but that is just trying to manipulate figurs's to suit the circumstance and has no bearing on real incomings and expenses

i also put liverpools transfer money recouped and uniteds recouped and uniteds is greater than liverpools

so the answer toyour question was that liverpool cant compete financially but the truth is they can and have spent more than united since 1992 the start of the premier league they also pay big wages too maybe not quite as high as united but big money anyways gerrard is on over ?100 grand a week and torres wont be far away either

by the way you conveniantly forgot to mention didi hamman, murphy, baros, diouf, risse, cisse and harry kewell in your squad of just three players i would hardly call it starting from scratch they won the uefa cup a couple of seasons previous and also managed to come second in the league in 2002 with largely the same squad something that hadnt been done since 1991

so looking at things realistically you have gone backwards in epl terms
