just as simple to just put the Bosch or whatever typ of ecu type part no into your search engine
and it will more than likely give you the information you require
Today is the Tomorrow you worried about yesterday ......Was it worth it ?

are you trying to read it obd, is edc15 butwill only read on the bench on that model, it looks a shinny case so should have flashable chips inside some 2000 models with dull casing are chipchange only

He DID mention that the car IS : VW Passat ! And yes, it's readable trough OBD port, on some cases the dashboard fuse needs to be removed in order to R/W . Fuse N? 11 or 15 .
