Default BMW E36 MILEAGE CORRECTION HELP PLEASE

I am needing to operate on an e36 316i year 98 who's clocks have been changed to the fancy white ones - but after doing so has put about 70k on the car.

1] Can this be done simply with an obd cable or will I need a programmer?

2] Whats the best option and what equipment/software I am going to need?

    Thanks in advance.....

I think, that you can do this job with bmw scanner 1.3.6.

Best is to post more info for dash, photos, numbers, etc.
PaSoft works for E46 only, no OBD for E36.
E36 has two eproms on dash, needs direct programming.

I am needing advice on if this can be done simply by an obd cable of some sort or if I need a programmer.

Please could someone let me know whats the best option for me and what equipment/software I am going to need.

If the car is not compact or sw24, then you can do with OBD bmw plug,
anyway you can try first with OBD, can not damage nothing with this

OK so I will get some photo's uploaded ASAP.

In the mean time I will order a cable as I am sure it will come in handy anyway.

cdvalsinis has suggested the ' bmw scanner 1.3.6 ' any more thoughts on this device for mileage correction?

A quick note: I have found a bmw scanner 1.3.6 which states

    Compatible with
    • E38 - 7 Series
    • E39 - 5 Series
    • E46 - 3 Series
    • E53 - X5
    • E83

So I am in doubt that this will work with my E36 although it does state it does mileage correction for some models.

OK an update and hopefully enough to get advice...

I got the clock out ( without removing steering wheel )

Number on back is moto meter :-
    9 2203 010 46
    HW:10.5
    SW:19.0

Would pics help or is this enough?
I have opened up and can see the circuit board but not opened the part to see the chips as it looks sealed.

Get 1.40 from China is 3 days. You will need the adapter for round diagnostic socket too.

    Thanks for your quick reply..

You seem really confident with this tools, not trying to doubt your knowledge its just I don't want to spend 50 quid on an item that is not compatible with the e36 bmw and in all of the adds selling this device none of them mention its use with an e36...

Have you used it with such a car for my purpose?

BMW 1.40 is a great tool and well worth the money.
But honestly, has anyone tried on E36??
I hope i'm wrong, but as far as i know it does only E46.

This is what I am needing to know, it does sound like a really good tool but I only evr buy e36 BMW's as I prefer their shape.

I do have an ediabas cable and diss ect bought it about a year ago but never managed to connect it to any of my BMW cars, really annoying as I spent hours trying... bet I bought a dud lead but no way of knowing I suppose.

    Been looking at this

    3 in 1 BMW DASH + BMW SCANNER 1.4.0 + 2.0.1 on eBay (end time 06-May-11 07:19:42 BST)

Does mention e36 but the price is quite heavy if it dont work!

    Default Update on progress

Finally got a BMW scanner P.A soft 1.40

Connected it up and although could connect and do several bits n bobs it wouldn't read with IKE so had no joy with reprogramming miles.

I did connect the setup to my BMW 316 1.9 e36 compact with more results. I connected using IKE and could read cluster.

Wouldn't detect abs though but I think this could be a problem with the ABS module as strangely enough it would read the ABS module on the older BMW I was trying to change miles on!
