Flashing a DM500HD

Hi just wondering when a box is flashed with a new image what is actually re-written ie everything or are some settings imbedded in the box.

your replacing the operating system in the same way you would be if re-installing windows on your pc. every thing is overwritten.

Thanks so if you flash a new image when you first start the wizard setup says do you want to restore your settings i take it that this is a NO as settings like bouquets etc are different are different.
