fuse keeps blowing.

I have a 2001 ford foucs and as of late it blowing the fuse to the petrol pump about twice a week.Someone gave a unit out a 55 mondeo but tells if take it apart the pump assembly is the same as the 2001 foucs can anyone confirm that for me please thanks in advance..............

the earth wire probably is burnt on your focus or short to earth

you could change the actual pump without the swirl pot maybe ?
but the swirl pot on these has a track card for the fuel sensor and the swirl pot is clipped (bayonet style ) into the tank
but might be the same actual bosch pump motor

i could be wrong but housing (swirl pot) wont fit

there is a CONFIRMED rumor going around which states in Spain it is a daily job dropping fuel tank on a focus and fitting new pump.

*THINK* your wasting your time, but worth a quick look, open trunk lhs rip the carpet out, the loom chaffs on the spotwelds

the earth burns out on the top of the pump motor in tank
but check live before pump as meat head has said
after the pump it wouldn't necessarily blow a fuse
pre pump live to earth will
check the loom and volt drop earth to pump think this one is deffo a tank down job
hang the tank down a good bit dont remove it

condensation in the tank causes the earth wire to burn out
sometimes water causes short across terminals on the pump too

if could remember what car/ problem, would tell you, but some pile of crap, loom sits on spotweld on the passenger seat, front lh mount.

can't rember at all, just know ended up stuffing some pizza box under it and charging the bloke the earth, check that before dropping tank, might have been some shitty rover, but it was a really simple one to find.
