Default Do you find DK sluggish of late?

just wondering are there any plans to upgrade DK.

the forum seems to be a bit slow to get around sometimes, would upgrading vbulletin help with this?

@ Eva, DK is and always was a very nippy forum from where I'm standing. browsing DK is a delight compared to some forums.

sometimes it's fine, and sometimes it's really slow. and i can't always blame my internet connection because other things are working fine.

    anyone else noticed this?

many times i have come on to the forum with the intention of posting things and ended up not bothering due to very laggy pages and awful speeds on the site.

I moved and renamed your thread from the original thread as requested Eva.

It is a question only DF can answer in relation to an upgrade. But moving onwards with VB may in fact slow down the forum as has been evident with some recent upgrades elsewhere.

What I can say based on previous experiences of what you and Ruberduck describe, is it may be a browser site rendering process affecting the page request. I could mention a few more issues that can cause a slow down, but we can start here and work from there. Looking at the load averages all looks fine.

But DF can give you a more definitive answer.

It happens to me sometimes especially if your typing in the sb you have to refresh to see if anyone has typed anything also I type and press return and it doesnt show in the sb I thought this was me but speaking to someone else they have the same problems sometimes .But like another poster said some forums are very slow this is a lot faster than some I have been on

The SB on any forum regardless of the VB version is a resource hog, plus we have mtv and gmb

True the Shoubox can be laggy, but I thought this post was about the Forum, not a skanky plugin.

3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

it wasn't about the shoutbox, although that can be laggy.

it has gone very slow just now while i was trying to post this reply, took about 30 seconds to open the reply box. i wonder is it something to do with times that there is some admin task being performed? was 2 am or just after, so maybe there's some back up of the server or something like that affects it?

maybe if we note the times that things are slow there might be a pattern. i know i was booted out the other evening and couldnt get back on for about twenty minutes, ff kept saying couldn't find server, any other site i tried to access was fine.

Since I installed firefox 4 I've found DK works faster but sometimes it takes 10 to 15 seconds for a thanks to drop and you know me and the thanks button.(new toy)
