    Default A V reciever

    Hi all
    im thinking of buying a sony av reciever now my tv has 1 hdmi and rca jacks but no optical digital port. I was going to set up system by the following
    virgin hd into av reciever using hd lead
    sat box into av using s lead
    surround sound speakers wired from av reciever
    then av reciever connected to tv using hdmi lead
    now if connected this way will i get surround sound out of my speakers

    why dont you get an AV reciever that has 3-4 hdmi inputs ?? iam using the yamaha 467 and let me add 4 hdmi inputs to 1 hdmi out out will also let digital audio with hdmi, will also let the sound and picture pass through when the reciever is not on, has your amp and sat box got a Component Video Input/Output ??? if you are buying a new amp just get 1 with as many hdmi inputs as you can

    my two sat boxes have optical digital port and one has video input/output so next phase is to purchase reciever

    trouble is when you upgrade to new receiver speakers might not be up to the task,agreed my receiver is an onkyo plenty of ports and 7-1
