Default i need a new computer........

........g'day, i need a new machine. both my pensionable laptop and desktop are not only past it, but there ~~~~ed.

i.m thinking of a fully wireless desktop, but need the help opinions of you guys who know much more than me.

here is a list of requirments etc...........

    laptop or desktop.
    new or seconhand.
    price needs to be low.
desktop, buy components and build myself.
    desktop small box.
    fully wireless.
usage, internet, pics, music, record pause live tv, output 5.1 sound or connect to my amp, it runs my cable box(soon to be dreambox sky).
jailbreaking..............hahaha, i have widows 7 ready to go.
remote control???, not an issue really.
should i go Mac or PC.

i dont do Torrents or anything along those lines, but thats mainly cos i dont know how and my machines arnt really up to it. but a new machine and help from here could see me watching more movies etc.

i am open to all suggestions, oohh matron!!!, if i go componant route i would need a specific list of what to buy and where to buy.

any links to seconhand bargains appreciated, but i will need any machine to be in as new state with no virus or operating issues.

cheers guys, i'll update the list as if i think of anythging to add.

    mick.

Have a look on Flea bay plenty of second hand bargains on there.
Also some new computers with high specs at reasonable prices.
If you are looking to get a mac they can be quiet pricey.

For desktops have a look at the barebone systems available from ebuyer & novatech

Recently spoke to a friend about a laptop. I may be able to get hold of Acer laptops with 2.2Ghz dual core processors, 3GB Ram, DVD re-writer & 80GB HDD, XP installed with genuine key...... ?160

Not confirmed yet, but I'll keep you posted.

If looking on Ebay for a desktop, look down the quadcore route. I picked up an Intel Q8300 quadcore system with 4GB Ram & twin 500GB caviar HDD's for just over ?220 inc delivery & Windows 7 Pro on a genuine key.

Everyone's more interested in the I3, I5 & I7's. But you can get a system that's just as good without the higher price tag

    torrents are a doddle,
you need a client ?Torrent - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client its tiny, doesnt use any resources and is about the best there is.
install it, then go to a torrent site
isohunt, thepiratebay, btjunkie are a few of the best ones
search for yer film or whatever; look for one with good comments, click on 'download this torrent', click open with utorrent in dialogue box, wait for it to d/l. happy days

nice one on the Torrents shady, downloading a treat through Ubuntu. A programme called Transmission does it for you.

last time i tried Torrents they where a bit complicated.

I think me sharing them back though is slowing my machine even more, can i stop that?

    mick.
