itunes on umbongo(ubuntu)

im having trouble getting itunes on umbongo, downloads, but wont install.

any ideas?

Ubuntu is a different Operating System than Windows and therefore Windows applications won't install directly in it.
There are ways of installing windows programs in Ubuntu using either Wine or Crossover Wine is free and is in Ubuntu's software center, it looks like you have to pay for Crossver. If you go to the Wine website you can download a newer version of Wine than is in Ubuntu's software centre.
However neither appear to be very good at running iTunes. A quick search of Google will show you that both seem to have the same problems with iTunes, that is they might through persistence install but they are not particularly useable afterwards. There is always someone who claims to have it running but they can never detail how they did it, and for the majority of people it doesn't run. If you do a search on the apps database on Wine it will show how successfully and particular Windows app will probably run. Personally if it isn't Gold or Platinum i wouldn't bother, to be honest i don't use any windows apps so therefore i don't use Wine but that doesn't make it a bad app.
Depending on why you want to run iTunes there may be a workaround. If it is just to be your music library and play songs then there are alternative programs that will do the same thing. Here is a list of equivalent apps for linux. If you want to sync with your iPod then some of the iTunes alternatives can be made to do that too. If you have an iPod touch or an iPhone then it becomes more complicated to set up, but it can still be done.
However what, as far as i know, none of the alternatives can do is update system software or apps on the touch, phone or iPad. And you can't go to the iTunes store, but that is not such an issue for music as there are other stores, eg Amazon, Jamedo and others and some of these apps have plugins that allow you to go to them instead. As a bonus some of these alternative stores sell you tracks in mp3 format so you are not forever tied to iPods should something better come along one day. And these apps can sync to other devices not just iPods.
I am not sure how well these apps deal with films as i have never tried, but i looks like at least Banshee can. And i am not sure which ones can rip your CD's to mp3 but i know some can and even if they couldn't then there are alternative ways of achieving the same ends.
The apps that seem most functional are Rhythmbox, Amarok or Banshee. I think Banshee is closest to iTunes, all three are in the Ubuntu software center but you may get newer versions if you go to their respective web sites.
As an aside if you want to convert your DVD's to mp4's to play on anything that supports them Handbrake is a good app but as it is not by default in Ubuntu's software centre it takes a little more installing to put it there before you can install it.
