    Default disable/alter password

    i wat to disable the password on ubuntu 10.04 or at least extend the time afore it locks.

    Assuming you are talking about the screen locking when you leave it for a while what you need to change is your screensaver settings.
    So System - Preferences - Screensaver.
    Then untick "Lock screen when screensaver is active" to stop the need for a password
    or untick "Activate screensaver when computer is idle" to stop the computer going into screensaver mode
    or increase the value of "Regard the computer as idle after" to make it take longer to go into screensaver.
