firstly thank you very much for the tutorial, I have gone thru dozens of websites and newbie guides. Most are 2009 and dont mention the basics to get one up and running !

I have flashed successfully Commando image via dreamup it is working fine.

I have read I need to place my edited (2.3.0) CCcam.cfg into /var/etc/ and also CCcam.ppc into /var/bin/emu/, I have done this and hit the blue button>extras>softcam menu but its empty, even softcam status is empty ?

I also downloaded an older 2.1.3 and a CCcam.ppc from the net and tried those older files but no joy sadly, the bouquets worked fine though!

Any advise on if im doing something wrong will be appreciated, thx

Sure I think I know what it is.

In the tut it says you must rename the file once you ftp it over
right mouse click the CCcam.ppc file and delete the .ppc so it shows as CCcam

you should see the cam menu now

The upcoming Commando 14.6 release will have a new folder /etc/info which contains seven assorted readmes. These docs are linux-formatted with controlled line lengths, for comfortable local viewing via Tuxbox Commander.

In fact, we've made this folder the default right panel in Tuxcom. By way of a sneak preview for our friends on D-K, here is an extract from the General Hints and Tips.txt file:

    Code:
    Softcam
    *******

Commando for DM500S is FTA, always has been, and always will be. However, we do
carry a useful and highly intelligent Softcam Menu in the Commando Extras Menu-

    BLUE > Menu > RED

Some people like to mess around with LAN Multi-Room setups, but struggle on where to
place the added files necessary for testing and educational use. /var/bin/emu/CCcam is
where the cam itself goes, and that is EXACTLY what it needs to be named, otherwise the
Softcam menu will not recognize it. (Linux filenames are cAsE sensitive, remember!) It
does not need to be set to chmod 755 as the menu hard coding does this for you. You'll
also need /var/etc/CCcam.cfg (again correctly named, as shown).

Some users wish to run oscam AND CCcam together, but need oscam to always load first,
in order that it grabs priority over CCcam for the CardReader. Your wish is our command!
LraiZer has tweaked Mohoush's original softcam nenu code logic so that this cam start
order should now (in theory) be obeyed. Feedback awaited please...

nb: For mgcamd or evocamd users only. Please note that /lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is no
longer embedded in root as standard. This file is now packaged loose in the release rar
archive for adding into the /var/lib folder instead, where it will work fine.
The info contained in the first couple of paragraphs should help existing C14.5 users who are still struggling with the basics of softcam installation (for testing and educational purposes).

    Cheers- AL

    READ IT
Not to mention the opening paragraph of the C14.6 release notes on here!

    What's new?

A library of readme docs explaining all the below, and much more
but sadly, nobody ever reads them. We've made it as easy as possible, with all docs linux formatted for comfortable local viewing on your telly with Tuxbox Commander from the Blue button, so go on- have a browse, please, yes? The docs folder is the default right pane in TuxCom, just arrow Up or Down to hilite the doc, then press OK to view it. Or read via FTP in the /var/etc/info folder.
