prompt for password

not sure why? but now when i go onto some sites i get a prompt asking for user name and password? i never had this before and I'm not sure why i have it now? its a real pain in the arse as every time i move to different page on any of the sites i has affected i get this window popping up i can just close the window and it loads the page but im still pissed off about it anyone got any ideas how to get rid of it? its the same if i use firefox or explorer just a different looking window

What protection have you got installed on your PC? I would scan it and see what in their..

3 products to install on top of yourt antivirus and firewall are:

Adaware 2008
Spybot S&D
Spywareblaster

All are free to download and use. get them from somewhere like download dot com or cnet

Install them, check for updates and then run them...

After they have cleaned out the crap go back to those sites that where you would be asked for a username etc and see what happens. Let us know cos there are other things to do to lock out such annoying issues if these don't do it. reckon they will though.

if all else fails then you should do a system restore and restore the comp back to an earlier date, when it was working perfectly fine.

sounds like you could have a virus try malwarebytes,a-squared free or spyware terminator all are free i find them very good.I also find avast for your resident scanner very good also free.
