    Right, match analysis time

1st half, we reduced Rangers to having only a few shots on and off target which our keeper comfortably dealt with.

2nd half, 10mins in and our main striker scored from a cross in which the gers defence were all over the place. Our supporters, stunned for a millisecond, went mental. That was nothing compared to when our 16yr old crossed from the left for our striker to head home his second goal of the evening and the home fans went crazy.

Rangers pulled one back through a header with about eight minutes left. They then equalised with a controversial header after our 'keeper seemed to be fouled. With time running out and looking to go into extra time, our 16yr old was fouled near the edge of the box and with almost the last kick of the game, the resultant free kick went in after hitting the underside of the bar after their 'keeper struggled to save it.

Ref blew the whistle and the Falkirk fans went absolutely berserk as we had just put the Scottish Champions out!. Simply brilliant!

Cheers m8 . If the players can play like that until the end of the season then I don't see why we shouldn't be challenging for promotion Injuries and suspensions will take its toll though and with such a small squad, it's going to be tough.

Since being relegated last year, the atmosphere on Wednesday night was brilliant to be part of and that should spur the players even more to get back into the SPL again.

    Hamilton 0-1 Falkirk

This was always going to be a tough game. Nothing much in it 1st half, both teams cancelling each other out and it felt like it was one of the longest 1st halves apart from the goal i've seen. Playing against a team at home that didn't attack much must be so boring to watch.

Falkirk took the lead not that long before half time through our top-scorer who finished off a great five-man move with a diving header. The final ball was crossed in for him to net from close range.

2nd half was more frantic and both teams had chances to score but in the end, Falkirk hung on and deserved to win.

So annoying that if the goals weren't cruelly chopped off last week, would have been top of the league.

Falkirk 1-0 Queen of the South

1st half was plenty of possession but no end product. Ref also waived on 2 penalty claims

2nd half was the same but their 'keeper made a few good saves to keep them in it. Ref managed to award the 3rd penalty claim (in extra time as our 16yr old was stretchered off) which would have been a travesty had it not been. Penalty was saved (was a good save).

The resultant corner was met by the head of our captain and into the back of the net

    Joint 2nd top now

    Partick Thistle 2-2 Falkirk

I enjoyed the game (apart from the ref) on Saturday and the atmosphere and - after a dull start - the end to end excitement.

I think we equalled their woodwork hitting tally and both teams had spells of looking better than the other.

We gave the ball away more than I've seen recently but were quick enough to get back and cover most of the time.
Also we put too many aimless balls upfield at times and invited the Jags to come straight back at us.

I was furious at the Ref for ignoring a foul in the run up to our first goal - I didn't see him indicating he was playing an advantage - but it worked out OK when our top scorer nodded home.

He put in a great shift and took a lot of punishment both on and off the ball and the free-kick goal was a delight to see from behind the goals.

Partick's first was a rocket from distance - any team would have been proud of an effort like that, but the second equaliser was too far away for me to see clearly.

I just felt stunned as if it was a defeat rather than a draw.
Maybe a more experienced bunch would have taken the ball into the corner, slowed things down and wasted time after we went ahead so late on.

However, you couldn't fault the lads for effort and enthusiasm and experience is slowly being gained.

Roll on the quarter-final against Dundee Utd tonight

    League Cup Quarter-Final - Dundee Utd 2-2 Falkirk (4-5 pens after extra-time)

Because of injury and suspension, we had ten kids under the age of 19 and one lad at left-back who has only had half an hour of first-team football since August.

We took on an SPL team and won. Who can't win games with kids eh!

Some thought the youngsters would freeze, that nerves would get to them. The penalties were taken in front of the home supporters making every effort to distract the Falkirk players as they approached. One by one they fired their shots past the 'keepers.

When the Utd player missed, our 'keeper gave a little jump and clenched his fist. Falkirk had a chance. The pressure was immense. One kick. Twelve yards out. This to win the prize of a national semi-final. The tension was almost unbearable. When the ball flew in, the ground erupted with the noise from our fans. Players, management, Directors, supporters - everyone went into orbit.

It was without doubt, one of the most amazing displays of sheer courage and bravery I have ever seen from a young Falkirk team. It wasn't ten men behind the ball. Falkirk took them on in every aspect. They passed well, chased, harried, closed down, tackled and broke forward at speed. They were simply magnificent.

Bring on the draw for the Semi-Final

We're in 2 cup finals already (one in April ) and still in about 2 or 3 other cups too. It's been a joy to watch so far but, with success comes scouts whom have been looking at quite a few of our players already for a wee while now.

Why did it have to be Sellick in the semi-final, would rather have had them in the final itself. Suppose IF we beat them, they should just hand us the trophy right after the game
