Hmmm i do think this amount may be taking the p*ss slighty!
Thank you very much.
I tested and report.

Would I be correct in saying anyone can change the code to mini/rover by just changing the X->N N->X without changing the checksum.
Also can the checksum be any printable char or just numbers and uppercase letters I assume - 'o' and -+? or is that saying too much![]()
No, not correct, the checksum does change too.
It can be 0-9, a-z plus a few others including a space character!
You need different codes for UK MGR, LR, Mini, different codes for Non UK MGR,LR and Mini, different codes if they are 433Mhz or 315Mhz versions and a different code for LR SLS remote!
Well I'm bored trying to figure it out so will post what I've found.
take the example
24902C
02/12/99
*X24902C24902BFFY*
*FFFFFFFFDB6FD39*
First letter of the first line represents the car make.
The next 3 bytes are the code from the label 24902C
The next 3 bytes are the code again -1
The next byte seems to be always FF.
The last char I assume is a checksum for the first line??
The bottom string is FFFFFFFFFFFFFF minus the code from the label in this case FFFFFFFFFFFFFF - 24902C = FFFFFFFFDB6FD3 then the last char I assume the checksum.
I did think the FF were there to pad the first string to 7 bytes for checksum use, and that one bit could be taken from each byte giving a max value of 0..127 which could be represented by all the printable characters but may be not

I confirm, codes 100% OK. Tested on the MINI.
