    Smile Gambling ?

    why is gambling so popular?
usually if you put your chip down on 7 on the roulette, it aint gonna land on 7....
the odds are computed to make the bookie money...
    So why do people bother?
I do enjoy a flutter myself when I go to the races, a crowd of us usually go to a few meetings throughout the year and enjoy a little gamble and if I lose its part of the day which I enjoy but if I win its a bonus.

Because sometimes you can walk away from the casino several hundred pounds up! Granted, not often.

Not only that, it is a good night out at the casino, I dont go as often as I used to, but it is a good laugh.

Dont forget you are not only putting a pound on 7, you will be covering several numbers

the last time i went to vegas roulette was the only thing i did win on and it was on lucky 7 keep backing until it hits by slightly upping the stake now and again so when it does land right you win and often it will hit again within the next few spins, whereas i got shafted on the river card twice playing hold'em both decent pots as well so i've hardly played since. trick is to never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

I do not know about horses but casino roulettes are fixed numbers by experts.

I personally thought casino would have been a lucky game but it?s not.

They may let you win if they wanted to; it?s a matter of choice.

You may not believe me but luck does not take part in casino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I go to the casino every week. Don't gamble, it's just somewhere quiet to socialise.

A friends business partner has a gambling problem, probably won't be a business partner for much longer. But I've seen how he can win on the roulette.

The short story is that he covers about half the numbers with enough to cover his total bet for that spin.
On something over a quarter of the board he puts heavier bets down to ensure a good win.
Then he will leave about 8 numbers with no coverage.

It's all about playing the odds. He's basically betting that none of the 8 uncovered numbers will win. Taking he's right he will either have covered his bet of won quiet a lot of money.

His problem is that he doesn't know when to stop. It only takes a couple of bad spins to land you with empty pockets.

Then again I've seen him come out a few thousand pounds up. Not that he can spend it as his wife thinks he's given up gambling. She controls the bank accounts & knows every penny that comes in & goes out.
So he just gambles with it...usually losing.

I bet on the horses...but I usually just go for the names I like

    and it's not very often.

Must be scary having a gambling addiction though, if it was big bucks you're winning/losing.

Gambling becomes addictive for some when they start chasing your loses.

Gambling is an industry were Govt take enormous tax revenue every day.

I wish all gambling in UK will be banned in the next election?????

I appriciate what you're saying, but people know the risks when gambling.

Some people work hard for their money and spend all their free time in the bookies, casinos, racecourses, not because they're addicted but because they enjoy it, the same way people who aren't alcoholics can spend all their time in the pub, socialising aspects.

People know their boundaries, and if they don't, they know there is the possibility of becomming addicted the same way as smoking/alcohol.

I do think that there should be more money put into awareness for gambling addictions, though.

the thing about gambling is every now and again you get a nice payback whereas people who waste money every day/week smoking and drinking never get their money back.

I gamble quite a bit. I never gamble what I can't afford to lose.
I only ever do single bets and occasionally a double as accumulators is what bookies love to see punters doing.

Overall the bookie will win hands down. Most people will only tell u when they win- they forget to mention the numerous bets they lost.

This is the worse side of gambling addicts????..

I have seen gamblers lost every thing they have build over there?s entire life.

Losing your wife and children?s are the last thing you want in life, and when you are a regular gambler you rarely see your wife and children.

I think there is a huge difference between buying a ticket for the lottery and betting in a casino or on a horse (not that I do it too often)

There is something exciting about the last two .... whereas the lottery is just a case of ....check the numbers ..... didn't win ....try again next week, I think it lacks the thrill of real 'gambling'.
