Default 406 2002 90hp hdi ignition stays on and no brake lights.?

this car came in with no brake lights and ignition wont switch off, sometimes if you touch the brakes car switches off with key out but not always. anyone come across this before ? possibly save me a load of checking . im guessing a fault in the bsi or engine fusebox.

It's Frogench - so guess two faults.

    1) remove key Stall it - see it kills the ignition - if it does - cut the small
D+ wire on the dynamo - fit a diode facing towards the dynamo

    2) *THINK* brake light switch is ~~~~ed - or manky fuse

    3) CHANGE ALL 5 AMP FUSES BEFORE DOING READING ABOVE SUGGESTIONS.

stalling it doesnt switch ignition off tried all that, its as if a couple of wires are rubbed together and corroded etc plus the fact it 1st happened with torential rain the other day !
