Hi everyone. I have vag 12.12.0 chinese clone. worked fine for a while, and in one day when i tried to do a auto-scan, at some point showed me the message 'this function requires a licensed interface'. i checked 'about' and it shows unregistered. i used the software that came with the cable, which prompts to close internet con, and changes the date automatically. it's like a demo. i still can do some things whith it. any chance to make it fully working again? thanks in advance. sorry for my poor english .

My exact situation, probably same hardware.

16D: as my latest post on VAG-COM/VCDS EVERYTHING it is equipped with FT232RL, ATMEGA162, ATF16V8B

Just to restore original 12.12.0 to a working condition what do we really need ??

Shoul ATMEGA be rewritten by 4 soldered wires or via USB also ??

If your VAG-Com Interface is clone then only by wires with isp programmer you can burn new flash in Atmega162.

Mine is not working and I read a lot of posts, but my R1 and R2 resistors seems to be correct around.

Can anybody place here file .ept from original vcds with ft232rq chip?
My VCDS is dead, I change the chip and need to program it with mprog.

You cannot change Unique ID of this chip as it's hardcoded. And afaik that ID is attached to you license.. even Ross-tech wont help you there

Hi Guys,

I have a question about my VCDS cable and I could not find any other threads where I could ask this.

My cable stopped working a while ago. I cannot change long coding, only adaptation. When changing Long Coding it says coding accepted, but then the actual coding is never updated.

I added pictures of my cable. I cannot see atmega or ftdi chip on it.

Your cable it has FTDI - RL (second picture very close to those 4 wires(usb) soldered to pcb.
It does not have Atmega, it is with NEC=CHINA= No chance to update (reflash) as I now, maybe this fact will change in the future..

About long coding- it must be vers. 12.12.0 - it is known that fact- coding saved, but at next visit coding not changed.


L.E. - it is very low quality- no GAL/ATF, no LM7805. ...do not waste your time, buy one with Atmega.

I have 14.04 VCDS english version. Got this with a CD coming with the cable. But maybe this version has the same fault.
