Default HOWTOW: Install WIS and EPC 07/2011

maybe the Admin could change the Headline from HOWTOW to HOWTO sorry i saw it to late

after i spend my weekend to solve the Code 50 Error while installing WIS, i do it this way and it works...the First Step is very very important:

    Installation instructions WIS 07/2011

    1. Ensure that Java SE is installed up in version 6 not 7 not 5 it must be 6, and at least update 15
    2. DVD 1 and open the folder "EWA"
    3. Setup.exe language is only English
    4. EWA net via Internet Explorer (Links in the Favorites folder)
    5. All data register (server access, user, group, workshop, etc.)
    6. Open Ewa-admin through the Start menu and select the tab WIS, not let the strange characters on the buttons irritate
    7. Third button from the top and allow to run the install WIS database
    8. EWA net run on Internet Explorer and login with the user created
    9. WIS should be run now by clicking the button
    10. EPC install the same way but only instructions from step 6 follow

If WIS is not starting through internet Explorer, install Firefox and take the links out of IE and then it will run.

If you have a problem with the *.ocx files at startup (later i will post the names of the three files) search for it, copy it to /Windows/System32, goto System32, right klick on each file and "open with",
search for Regsvr32 and open it with that.

The error 50 is only when trying to install WIS standalone. There was never a problem to install WIS from EWA, but you wont be able to access WIS directly from Xentry or DAS.

What is your explanation for this? Looks like the OP was installing EWA NET and had the error 50 issue? If you have never seen that error for EWA NET, it does not mean it would not exist for WIS on EWA NET.

Or do you have some other knowledge that explains why this error could not concern EWA NET? I'm pretty sure I've seen it myself when updating EWA NET database from the EWA admin tool, would be nice to know then if this is your personal view or something more than based on your experience (so far).

In order to fix 6. with the strange characters do the following:
    Code:
    Solution:
    - From the installation disk copy 'X:\ewa\Apps\hpdlls\application' folder into C:\Program Files\EWA net\
    - Rename copied 'application' folder to 'dlls'
    - Start EWA Admin Tool, choose your language from the menu.

and if no success,...use the original daimler fix named
    ;tb_ewo_fix_1.3.2.4
    located into your ewa dvd;
    ewa\readme\support....
Thanks to Patrian who helped me with this fix long time ago.
