    Default C5 FAULT CODES

Hi, Does anyone know why i can't clear fault codes on a citroen c5 2.2hdi the ecu is edc15c2. I have tried to clear the faults with lexia and elm327 i can read them ok with both scanners but can't clear them, lexia says communication problem when i try to erase. Elm327 says cannot clear fault memory dump also with error. Does the datalink socket use the same wires in the connector to read and erase faults, I can read and write to the ecu with a galetto no problem. please if anyone as come across this problem befor please reply so i can fix it. Is there a chip on the ecu that stores just the fault codes could this be messed up or corrupt, The mil light is now off but the codes are still there egr throttle electrovalve is one of them. I have disconnected the battery over night and tried clearing them again but still unable to. also i have checked the fuses all ok.
