    as plasterer say's.
    plus do a system cleanup.
    start-all programs-accessories-tools-disc cleanup.also do same from start-to tools-defrag,#
depends what operating system you have bust most are almost same.#
you can reinstal ie explorer or whatever browser you use.
    but check virus-spyware 1st.

then come back for check up.if a fail.

overheating.dont think so.as long as on a flat surface.the amount of people i have seen with laptops sitting on top of quilt on bed.spose beats buying a hot water bottle.

the reason your getting mulitpal tabs opening when u use ur browers is because u have accidentally saved the option use current pages in your tab options

so u had 2 pages open at the time when the browser saved them to be reopened when u load new browser

also sound like u have no browser cleaning or registry cleaning tool
use this tool to clean up Download CCleaner 3.20.1750 - FileHippo.com

dont thin there's anything wrong with it from the hardware end, i think your installatin of windows is just FUBARed.if you cant fix it with any of the above suggestions, just format your hard drive and re install windows(be sure to back up what you can first of course)
