Cat Technicians this is a very impotant topic/training and response is low.
I am not looking for THANKS but your comments, you can have all the manuals but diagnosis is vital.
Here is the Failure Analysis of Connecting Rods.

AUDIENCEService, service support and administrative staff personnel who understand the principles of engine operation, and who are or may be involved in determining root causes of failures of engine pistons, ringCONTENT
and liners.
This presentation describes piston, ring and liner facts, operation, normal appearance and some of theroot causes of failures of pistons, rings and liners.
OBJECTIVESAfter learning the information in this presentation, the student will be able to:5. identify common material, process and assembly problems found in pistons, rings and liners.
1. describe functions of engine pistons, rings and liners;
2. describe the structure of Caterpillar pistons, rings and liners;
3. describe the types of loading and wear that pistons, rings and liners experience during engine
operation;
4. identify road signs of adhesive wear, abrasive wear, erosive wear, corrosive wear and fracture of
pistons, rings and liners and list possible root causes;

Excellent stuff! More!
mathura this stuff is amazing
thank you so much for sharing
i hope one day i would be able to help you too
This presentation describes function, structure, operation, normal wear, abnormal wear and fractures, parts problems and some root causes of failures of valves, seats, guides, springs, retainers and keepers.
After learning the information in this presentation, you will be able to:
1. describe functions of engine valves;
2. describe structural difference between, and correctly identify, one-piece and two-piece Caterpillar valves;
3. describe the three principle types of loading that valves experience during engine operation;
4. identify road signs of high temperatures, misalignment, impact damage, and corrosion on engine valves and list possible root causes;
5. identify common manufacturing or installation problems, including improper inertial welds, of engine valves.

Hey Mathura, thanks for these great material mate!
Great stuff if more mechanics took the time to understand why there would be alot less repeat jobs done.
Thanks
This presentation describes function, structure, manufacturing,installation, operation and and some root causes of failures of threaded fasteners.
After learning the information in this presentation, you will be able to:
1. describe functions, structure and the manufacturing process used to produce fasteners;
2. identify road signs of fastener failure due to fatigue fracture, ductile fracture, impact shearing, fretting, fretting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking and list possible root causes;
3. identify common fastener problems that may occur in the fastener material, or during forming, hardening or threading;
4. identify the road signs of fastener failure due to a nut backing off and list possible root causes.

This presentation describes function, classification, structure, characteristics, common failure modes, and testing of lubricants.
After learning the information in this presentation, you will be able to:
1. identify the primary functions of lubricants used in Caterpillar products;
2. describe the key elements of, and differences between, (SAE) viscosity classifications and (API) service classifications;
3. identify key characteristics of lubricant base stock and describe the effect each has on lubricant performance;
4. identify key characteristics of viscosity,lubricity,degradation/contamination additive types, and describe the effect each has on lubricant performance;
5. identify common lubrication modes of failure (wrong ingredients, degradation, contamination);
6. describe common field tests of lubricants, how the tests are performed, and what information the tests reveal.
This is all awesome stuff, thank you for sharing. I love training material, especially as a new journeyman! Helps out a lot.
